Love, Sex and Betrayal: Episode 6

I hope you enjoyed the previous episode(s) cos you've not seen anything *winks*

I resumed office the next morning. It was a bright Monday morning. I arranged and filed the assignment Ayoola gave me and I proceeded to her office to submit. She was really amazed at how fast I am learning on the job. I submitted the assignment and went back to my office to start the work for the week. kemi and I friendship grew continually and soon blossomed into a love affair. I started having an emotional feeling towards her. It later came to a stage I couldn’t do without having her by my side every blessed day. The feeling was so enormous that I asked myself if I truly love her what stops me from asking her to be my gf.

One Friday evening, I asked kemi if we could have dinner together that night. She asked, “where do you want us meet?” I am a guy that doesn’t really like eating outside, but the first place that came to my mind was the Nitro 21 kitchen, a posh new restaurant in Akure. She said “Great, I’ll see you there by 9” I got to the restaurant an hour before we were supposed to meet, and I went to meet one of the maitre’d. I gave her #2000, and asked her, “can you please help me set a romantic table for two?” She took my 2k and said “No”

I counted another three 1k notes, and gave them to her. She said, “I’ll see you at nine o’clock” I walked in at exactly 9:00, exactly when kemi walked in, and the maitre’d welcomed us and she said, “Nice to see both of you.” She ushered us to a great and romantic candlelit table. Kemi was duly impressed. She was just full of smiles. She wasn’t expecting something like that. Over the dinner I asked, “kemi, will you be the mother of my unborn children?.” She smiled and said, “Hibiscus, not so fast. We have to take it one step at a time. Our organization policy is against office romance, so one of us would be in danger of his appointment been terminated. Be sure that
person won’t be me” “I will only be your fiancée on one condition” “what condition is that?” I asked. “I want us to keep it secret from our colleagues at work.” She replied. I told her that shouldn’t be a problem. In the end, the dinner was a great success because I officially have the right to kemi.

We tried our best to keep our love affair from the hawk eyes of our colleagues especially the eye-service clique to ayoola. A week wont pass without kemi getting me an expensive gift. I tried to stop her by telling her it because I believe I should be the one showering her with gift but she insisted that’s her own best way of showing me how much she loves me. I was so blinded with this love and gifts that I failed to ask questions. I thought she was doing this for pure love but I never knew that not all that glitter are gold. Lekster saw beyond these gifts of hers and warned me to be cautious of someone living above her means. He believes since am an I T expert, I might be a pawn in a bigger game and the gifts might be to lure me.. My friend saw the big picture but I choose to hate him for being honest with me. I started feeling uncomfortable staying with him.

Two months later, I discussed with kemi the idea of getting my own apartment. She was glad I had finally decided to be man enough to get my own apartment. She contacted her estate agent and he invited us to check some vacant flat at Ijapo estate. After checking the vacant flats, I decided to settle for a 2 bedroom flat. We negotiated the fee and we agreed on paying 200k per annum. Kemi wrote a cheque of 200k and handed it to the estate agent. I couldn’t believe my eyes there…I couldn’t do anything but just hugged her and whispered thank you inside her ears. I was full of praises to God for making me find my missing room. I told her she’s a God sent cos just few ladies could do what she has been doing. I informed lekster I had already gotten my own apartment and I would be moving in there any time from now. “Hibiscus, I know your decision to pack out here wasn’t far-fetched from the advice I’ve been giving you on kemi” lekster asked gently. “Guy, it has nothing to do with kemi. I just believe it’s time to move on. You’ve really tried for me but I just want to be on my own now.” I replied him.

Lekster was sad because he reasoned am on a fast lane to destruction. “kemi wasn’t as bad as you think. She’s a God sent and she’s also someone like jolaoluwa your fiancée.” I added. I explained to him how much I love Kemi and I wouldn’t mind breaking our friendship if he continue to see kemi as a bad person. He was surprised I could utter that statement. “I can’t believe a lady could make you reason in such a way even to the extent of thinking of putting an end to our friendship. Anything you like just do, I’ll always be your friend” he said and left the room.
